Collaborative Family Law is a process of negotiation requiring that both parties retain collabortive lawyers. The parties and their lawyers enter into a written Participation Agreement which sets the procedure and rules of the process and requires that they agree to resolve the issues arising from their separation without going to court. Collaborative process is team oriented and professionals other than lawyers are often involved in assisting the family. Those may include counsellors, child specialists and financial professionals, all of whom are working together to assist all of the members of the family to the best resolution possible.
